The municipality of Ruma is located in the central part of Srem, at the foot of Fruška gora, between the rivers Danube and Sava. The fact that this territory was already inhabited in prehistory is proven by numerous archaeological findings, out of which the most important archaeological site of "Gomolava" is near the village of Hrtkovac. The nearby Borkovačko lake is waiting its visitors with its beautiful beach. In this settlement there are three Orthodox and one Catholic churches. Ruma also has a museum, a city library, its own choir and a radio station, and besides all that, the theater is evermore successful. The festival of music associations of Vojvodina has been held here for over three decades.
