Gornje Podunavlje Special Nature Reserve

The Naive Art Gallery in Kovačica has a building surrounded by ateliers of naive painters and has a fund of 821 paintings.

Gornje Podunavlje Special Nature Reserve is a large flood area in the far northwest of Vojvodina, which is one of the most well-preserved wetlands on the Danube through Serbia. It is located along the Danube, near Sombor and Apatin, well connected with communications and easily accessible. It extends to 19,648 ha, along the left bank of the Danube, covering almost 70 km of the river flow. It is part of the large flood valley that extends to neighbouring Hungary and Croatia, and after the Delta it is the most important wetland area on the entire flow of the Danube. The upper Danube region is distinguished by its exceptional biodiversity and it is one of the last resorts for the living world related to floodplains. There are 51 species of mammals, 280 species of birds, 50 species of fish, 11 species of amphibians, hundreds of insects, aquatic, wetland, meadow and forest vegetation. In addition to its biodiversity, Gornje Podunavlje is renowned for its authentic cultural heritage, characteristic original customs, costumes, language, fishing tools, boats and dishes that attract guests and make the upper Danube region an attractive destination for visitors. Gornje Podunavlje SNR with its natural features, aesthetic values, possibilities for hunting, fishing and other sports and recreational activities on the water, has the opportunities for sports and recreation tourism, excursion tourism, manifestation tourism, ecotourism, rural tourism and other types of tourism.
