Special nature reserve Karađorđevo

“Karađorđevo” is recognizable by its historical tradition, rich ornithofauni which consists of some rare bird species and by its wild animals.

The natural good "Karadjordjevo" belongs to the municipalities of Bačka Palanka and Bač. On the basis of ecological valorization, conducted by the Institute for nature protection of Serbia, it was proposed to be placed under protection as a special nature reservation - a reservation for maintenance of the genetic fund of high game, in the category of great importance (second category). The area of ​​the special nature reservation "Karadjordjevo" is made up of two separate natural entities: the area of ​​Mostonga and the "Bukinski rit" area. The protected area consists mainly of forests (77%)and has parts of arable and aquatic areas, or other areas such as ponds, reeds, canals. "Karadjordjevo" has a fairly long tradition in the business it deals with. In 1924, by the decree of King Alexander Karadjordjevic, the state hunting-forest good was established. Immediately after the end of the Second World War, in 1945, the work of this property was restored and it was given to the Yugoslav People's army and it was given the name "Military institution Karadjordjevo". A holiday villa was built, in which for the next 23 years the main guest, and also host, will be Josip Broz Tito. "Karađorđevo" is a very significant ornithofauna, made up of 135 bird species, of special value: white-taied eaglel, gray falcon, white stork, riddle of the moon. Also, bird species that are potentially endangered in Europe are living in the Bukinski rit. The typical characteristic of the natural estate "Karađorđevo" are wild animals, in particular: different types of deer (ordinary, fallow, white-tailed deer) wild boar, moufflon, roe deer and a number of small game varieties (wild cat,European pine marten, fox, badger, wild rabbit, etc.)
