The municipality of Temerin is located in the South Bačka District, approximately 20 km north of Novi Sad. Three settlements belong here. Temerin is an agricultural and craft center. The city has an amateur theater group and folk dance teaching is also available at a high standard. Temerin's TAKT (Creative Workhsop and Arts Camp) has a long history. Other significant local events include the International Wine Festival, the Temerin Pálinka Competition, the Illés-nap (Elijah's day) celebrations, and the Teen Festival. The town also has a number of beautiful churches. The Virgin Saint Rosalia and Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic churches are definitely worth visiting, as well as the Orthodox churches. Temerin's castle was constructed by Count Sándor Széchenyi at the end of the 17th century. Today, the castle is home to the Lukijan Mušicki High School. The Jegricka Nature Park is located 2 km north of the town and provides shelter for several endangered plant and animal species. Temerin is also known for its wine production. High quality grapes are produced locally and many excellent wine cellars operate in the area. People looking for rest and relaxation can enjoy the local spa where olympic and thermal pools are available.
